"I have been with Spencer Burnside for about 2 years. The rate I have is great. However, he and his office leave a lot to be desired. There is no communication about possible problems or changes. For instance, not renewing a person's policy. I found out because I noticed something hinky on my State Farm app. I called last Friday and the young woman said she would call me back. No call on Monday, so I called Tuesday. Again I was told I would receive a call back that day. No return call. So I called back today. Finally I'm told that State Farm decided not to renew my policy due to claims on Roadside Assistance. I explained when I got the policy that I needed Roadside Assistance due to the fact that I am disabled. Any problem with my car, I'm going to need assistance. I am lucky enough to still be able to walk short distances and to drive. Anything to do with my van has to be handled by someone mechanically inclined. Yes, I had to make several claims since I got my policy. Isn't that what it's for? I pay for it every month. I don't have any accidents or tickets for the past 7 years since I've had this vehicle. I have even gone for months at a time without requiring assistance. My last Roadside Assistance claim was at the beginning of February. They renewed my policy in April. Why renew it in April, but not this coming October when I've gone this long without needing to file a Roadside Assistance claim? It would have made more sense back in April. My agent, Spencer Burnside, could have mentioned that the claims could be a problem. Someone could have called as soon as they found out my policy wasn't going to be renewed. But no, I never received a letter stating that. No text saying "your policy isn't eligible for renewal." A phone call, especially after I had already called about my concerns. I guess all insurance companies are this way. But the way this was handled is completely inappropriate. Were they just going to let my auto policy lapse? That would triple my insurance rates. I guess they feel better about only doubling my insurance rates by not renewing my policy. It still feels like a slap in the face. I had to make claims on my Roadside Assistance because I'm disabled. Now they won't renew my policy because I had to make claims on my Roadside Assistance because... oh, right, I'm disabled and had to use the Roadside Assistance policy I got because I'm disabled, using a power wheelchair, and need roadside assistance when my van has broken down, which I explained when I got the policy. They did say that they hoped they could regain my business, but why would I go back to doing business with a company that shows such little respect for their clients. And Spencer made such a big to do about making sure that I knew I was a valued "stockholder," he worked for me. Well, thanks, but no thanks. If I want to be treated like I'm important to a business, I'll go to Chick-fil-A."
